A negotiation with maintenance: demanding attention without ease. To use it, you must constantly adapt to its form—its limits, its imbalance, its resistance to being carried, and its unreliability. It doesn’t function smoothly, and carrying it becomes a kind of quiet labor, without a clear reward.

The materials used—plastic, fishing line, rock, brick- hold tension with artificial, non-organic breakdown. They resist decay and persist, for better or worse, like the systems we’re expected to maintain, or end up maintaining, as part of a larger structure, that benefits from our efforts, whether or not, it serves us.
